Season 1 of Mrs. Marvell It gave fans plenty to think about, while sending the story of Kamala Khan / Mrs. Marvell (Iman Velani) to a whole new territory. One thing fans loved at the end was her approach to Kamala’s powers, which took some distinct visual liberties in the climax battle scene. While Kamala’s powers weren’t a direct translation from the comics, the show used several cosmic constructs to convey her extended power – and according to the episode’s directors, these were rooted in a unique place of inspiration. In an interview with ComicBook.com distance Mrs. Marvell In conclusion, directors and executive producers Bilal Falah and Adel Al-Arabi revealed that some of Kamala’s fighting style is inspired by Dragon ball Z.
“With visual effects artist Nordan Rahali, we were exploring what we could do with that power and enjoy the ‘Impige’ moment,” Falah explained. “That was that picture that is really a manga, almost like Dragon ball Z Effect. “All these wonderful things that, yeah, we’ve discovered. And I think when we were doing that, we just felt like there was a lot we could do. And I think we’d hit the tip of the iceberg.”
Falah and Elaraby also delved into how the ending was affected by Edgar Wright’s work, something they cited in a recent social media post about their meeting.
“It was important that the last episode be a climax,” Falah said elsewhere in the interview. “Boom, boom, boom, you should go to the climax that hits you in the heart at the end. That was really our intention, to make it fast-paced, but at the same time, enjoy these really emotional moments. So, finding that balance was hard, But I think we made it there and we still had the big action, and we still had those emotional moments with mom and dad. Which were, for me, very special scenes that really touched you emotionally. And then you have the biggest moment that you’re really Ms. Marvel. This inconsistency – it was hard to find, but I think we made it through.”
“We also wanted to put the animation in it, because in the pilot, that was something very important to us,” Elaraby added. “This fictional sequence and all that. We still wanted a copy of that at the end, which is why we came up with this. Home Alone A sequence, where you’ll explain that on the board and all that. You really see that flavor that is obviously also inspired by Edgar Wright. That’s how, after all, we’ve been able to retain that kind of show identity and something we’ve tried to do in the pilot.”
